Nowadays, building house models is becoming increasingly popular as a hobby for DIY enthusiasts. Despite new methods of woodworking, we still use wood to create house models. In addition to the well-known attributes of strength and lightweight, wood is also ecologically and health-friendly compared to plastic for manual use.
In model-building kits, you often find oak, beech, balsa wood, and mahogany wood. The most flexible material is balsa wood. Engraving and drilling are easily done. Thanks to its beautiful texture, applying paint is often unnecessary.
Creating a Wooden Model
One prepares a set of tools: a pencil, a ruler, a cutting mat, a scalpel handle, and adhesive.
First, draw the walls onto the wood according to a designated scale. Once the layout is sketched, the wooden blocks are shaped using a laser cutting device to create the walls and structure of the house. Subsequently, the pieces are glued together to assemble the exterior facade of the wooden house model.
The model builder crafts furniture and household items to decorate the house. A stone fireplace can add a warm ambiance to the wooden house model. Lighting and figures are added to simulate a realistic atmosphere.
Advantages of Wood in Model Building
Wood is a noble material that blends well with other materials like resin and acrylic. Wood imparts a natural character to the model, attracting viewers and potentially facilitating real estate sales.
